le thé

le thé offers an experience of surprise and delight. A simple and elegant origami design that enhances a tactile experience that literally unfolds before your eyes. Each pyramid contains a tea bag with an attached brightly colored hummingbird that perches on your mug as you enjoy your tea.

I believe that every object in our home should bring us joy. Designing packaging with this intent offers me interesting design challenges. For this project I asked myself how can I make something as mundane as a cup a tea, a delightful and rememberable experience?

This eye-catching shape accompanied by etched wood tray stands out on a store shelf, point of sale counter or at home in the kitchen. The etched packaging pattern resembles hummingbird feathers for a touch of whimsy. The tone on tone pyramids and the dark stained wood tray add sophistication.

Having a cup of tea is a morning or afternoon ritual, a beverage intended to warm us up, and often shared with company or guests. These moments are perfect to infuse with a little surprise and delight; wow a friend you’re sharing a cup of tea with, or bring a pop of joy to your morning routine.

le thé creates a rememberable and delightful experience with its no glue origami pyramids that unfold intuitively and with a brightly colored hummingbird crafted to perch on the edge of your mug while your tea steeps. Every interaction and touch point with le thé feels special and intentional.

Though simple origami techniques I was able to create a three dimensional hummingbird. Folding the humming bird in half allowed for more stability when perched on a mug as well for the beak to fold at an angle towards the tea, much like when hummingbirds drink from a flower.
