The Capitol Hill Block Party is an annual music festival that occurs each summer in the heart of Seattle. It’s a loud, collective affair that shuts down four square blocks for a 72 hour dance party. I developed a brand package that captures the spirit of coming together under the rhythm of fun.
I created an asset library comprised of simple illustrations that add vibrancy and a laid back atmosphere to the festival’s identity.
An important aspect of the Block Party’s identity is to squeeze fun into every corner. When it came time to design the festival wrist bands and three day passes, I turned to slap bracelets as the design foundation.
Finally, I put together a homepage that weaves traditional UI elements and the festival’s main graphic components together into an experience that encourages exploration while retaining a core navigational simplicity.
On small screen sizes, the navigation pushes to the corners for easy access and the central graphic condenses into a looping animation that retains the jubilant nature of its large screen state.
